Creative Development

John was most directly influenced by his older sister Nancy's sketches of landscapes, still life's, animal portraits and nudes. He was also inspired by the intimate qualities in some of history's most iconic masterpieces--the right arm of MADAM X (Singer-Sargent), David’s intense gaze over his sling (Michelangelo), the radiance of light washing over a Vermeer subject, or even the radical fantasy images of Boris—to mention a few.

Background

John P. Sherman lives to create. Although he attended the Art Institute of Colorado (Denver), he prides himself a self-styled artist in love with the creative process. His artistic "style" developed and blossomed early, fostering a reputation as a young, talented, creative artist.

As the years have advance, so too has his knowledge, skill and desire to create. Even as a seasoned artist, John remains enthusiastic about painting that one masterpiece that often alludes many artist.

Medium

John works primarily in oils. He also utilizes acrylic, color pencil, graphite and computer aided mediums to convey his emotional and artistic sensitivities, or what he describes as

"FLAUNTING IMAGINATION."

Inspiration

Inspiration is generally regarded a being sourced from outside one’s self. I like to consider my inspiration as a fundamental character trait...that “something” inside me through which life is filtered and the resulting product become an intense motivation to create. Whatever it’s source, inapiration feeds my soul.
